"C" Shift Truck on 3rd alarm fire in Northwest Baltimore

At 1701 hrs a box was struck out in the northwest part of the city. First arriving units went on scene with heavy fire and smoke throughout multiple row houses, immediately requesting a 2nd alarm. Truck 5 was then  transferred to the station of Truck 12. As fire conditions worsened and a partial collapse of original fire building occurred. All units were ordered to back out and go exterior operations only. At that point a 3rd alarm of fire was requested, bringing Truck 5 to the fire ground. Command reported a total burnout of fire building with fire in exposures on bravo and delta side. Once arriving on fire ground the truck went to the roof on bravo exposure and began a trench cut. Then worked on the roof with E-23 knocking down any visible fire in the exposure. Truck 5 cleared the scene in 1 1/2 hrs and returned home to 25th st.

Lt. Neuberger experienced a life changing experience during day work today. While using the toilet in Truck 5's office, the toilet literally exploded into pieces. The Critical Incident Stress Management Team was notified of the situation. Lieutenant we hope your not scarred for life!!!
 
 
"A" shift takes in early morning bedroom fire
 
1/23/09 Box Alarm T15-11 1800 E Oliver St
 
 Engines 33,6,51,5,31 Trucks 15 and 5 BC2 BC6 M16
At 0637 hrs units were dispatched for a report of a dwelling fire at the above location. E-33 and Truck 5 arrived on scene and reported two story end of the group rowhouse with smoke showing.Units reported a bedroom fire, with heavy smoke conditions. Engine 33 made a quick knock on the fire. While Truck 5 threw ladders to the front, opened up and conducted searches. All units cleared within 1 hr and 15 min.

1/16/09.......Box Alarm T15-10 1821 North Wolfe Street.
 
At 1917 hrs the above address came in for a dwelling fire.  Additional photos and incident description to be posted Monday the 19th. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
"D" Shift- Engine takes in 51 Box

Engine 51,5,6,33,41 Trucks 15,3  BC2  BC1  M16
 
Units went on scene of a two story rowhouse with fire showing first floor. Units made a quick knock of the fire. It was a total burnout of first floor with some extension up the stairs to the second. Units were all cleared within 1 1/2 hours. FPA Wingate assigned to E-33 was detailed to E-6 for the day and recieved minor injuries on fireground. Another firefighter from E-51 was also injured. We wish them both a speedy recovery!

1/11/09........Box Alarm 6-25 1429 E. Fayette Street
 
At 2033 hours units were dispatched to the area of Baltimore Street & Caroline Street for a report of a dwelling fire.  Shortly after, Battalion Chief 2 went onscene with a corrected address of 1429 E. Fayette Street.  He reported a 3 story middle of the group row home with  heavy fire showing 1st floor.  Fire quickly spread to the 2nd and 3rd floors, and with no access in the rear for the 2nd due truck and other companies, a 2nd alarm was transmitted.
 
First arriving units encountered heavy fire conditions, and made an aggressive interior attack.  A victim was rescued from the first floor rear, and transported to the hospital via Medic 10.  Since it was determined the building was under renovation, an evacuation was ordered.  1 firefighter from Engine 51 sustained minor injuries when he was attacked by a dog in the adjacent dwelling.  1st alarm units were held for nearly four hours due to overhaul and investigation.

"D" Shift finishes out work week with working fire in 6 Engine's Area.  PETA would be proud, 1 kitten rescued.
1/08/09........Box Alarm 6-22 1325 E. Biddle Street
 

At 1935 hrs, a box alarm was dispatched to the above address.  Engine 6 reported 3 story end of group, fire showing second floor, side bravo . 33 Engine arrived second and pulled a line off 6 engine. There was fire on the first and second floor rear. 33 Engine knocked the fire on the first floor while 6 engine knocked the second floor. The dwelling was occupied. A kitten was removed from the dwelling and EMS 3 transported it to the animal hospital on falls road.  That is what we do at East 25th street folks, go the extra mile!

"C" Shift Takes in 2nd Alarm 6 box, First Night Work.

1/03/08 Box Alarm 6- ? 338 Federal St

Engine 6 and Truck 1 arrived on scene of a two story middle of the group vacant, with smoke showing. Truck 5 took the rear and reported heavy fire showing extending into exposures on brave and delta side. BC2 requested a second alarm be transmitted due to the possible of fire extending into exposures. Engine 6 put a knock on the fire first floor, as Engine 33 covered there plug and advanced a 2nd line extinguishing fire on the second floor. Truck 5 threw ladders and opened up the rear.Also assisting Truck 1 in searches, ventilating and checking for extension. Good job by all units in the cold winter weather.
